Education Programs
The Foundation has long had in place an educational assistance program for HHHS staff, to offer financial assistance for educational opportunities that will further advance an employee’s knowledge and skills. HHHS encourages all staff to maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in order to provide high quality patient, resident and client care.
The Foundation is also proud to be in the company of many individuals, organizations, and service clubs in our community who are supporting tomorrow’s leaders through graduating student scholarships and bursaries.
In addition to a long-standing bursary for students pursuing post-secondary study in the health care field, in 2022 HHHS and Point In Time came together to create a new award for a student who has demonstrated outstanding participation in the school community or the community at large as a champion for mental and physical wellness, including anti-bullying, anti-stigma, and/or who may be planning to pursue education in one the Helping Professions. This Commitment to Community Health Bursary was inspired by the work of Dave Jarvis, who was a leader at HHHS Mental Health, and an inclusive community programs and services advocate who was dedicated to serving the community well through collaboration, out of the box thinking and leaving no stone unturned as a champion for social justice.
Providing funds for education programs to support current – and future – health care staff is one focus for the Foundation, and a component of HHHS’ recruitment and retention strategy in these times of health human resource challenges. Please advise us if you wish to designate your gift towards our education assistance programs.
