Health Radiothon Doubles the Impact with Matching Gift from a Cottager Family

Haliburton County, ON – With summer in full swing across Haliburton County, the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation (HHHSF) is excited to announce that preparations are well underway for the 2025 Moose FM Health Radiothon, proudly driven by Minden Subaru. This much-anticipated annual event will take place on Thursday, August 14 and Friday, August 15, from 6am-6pm – and unite the community for 24 hours of generosity, stories, and support.

This year’s Radiothon will focus on raising vital funds for life-saving emergency equipment needed at Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS), ensuring residents and visitors receive the critical care they need, close to home.

Best of all, your donation will go twice as far. The WB Family Foundation, representing a family of longtime cottagers in the Haliburton area, has stepped forward with a $100,000 matching gift to inspire the community. All donations will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of every gift made during the 2025 Radiothon.

“Our family has cherished the beauty and peace of the Haliburton Highlands for generations,” said a representative of The WB Family Foundation. “This community has given us so much over the years, and we want to help ensure that everyone here—residents and visitors alike—can count on excellent emergency care when they need it most.”

The need for updated and advanced equipment in the emergency and acute care departments is a priority for HHHS.

“In an emergency, every second matters—and so does having the right equipment,” said Dr. Keith Hay, Chief of Staff at HHHS. “Having new and upgraded tools ensures our team can respond swiftly and effectively when lives are on the line. Speaking on behalf of HHHS physicians and staff, I am deeply thankful for the community’s support and for The WB Family Foundation’s generosity and leadership.”

Listeners can look forward to heartfelt stories, inspiring interviews, and a strong sense of community spirit, all broadcast live on 93.5 MooseFM and from various locations throughout the county.

Building on the success of last year’s Radiothon, which raised over $600,000 in support of women’s health for mammography equipment, this year’s event promises even more opportunities to give, with expanded outreach and community participation.

Donation booths will be hosted at locations across the county, including:

Community support remains at the heart of this initiative, and HHHSF is deeply grateful for the continued generosity of donors, sponsors, volunteers, and listeners. Events in support of the 2025 Health Radiothon are welcome and encouraged. Two events of note:

The Kennisis Lake community is raising fun and funds with live music starting at 1pm on Friday August 15 at the Kennisis Lake Marina and Smoke on the Water (1076 Wilkinson Road, Haliburton).
Haliburton Highlands Brewery (15543 Hwy 35, Carnarvon) will be taking donations throughout August in support of the HHHSF as well as hosting a Pig Roast fundraiser on August 9th starting at noon on the patio, all donations made before the end of the 2025 Radiothon will be added to the Radiothon total.

Please join us for these inspiring events—and help ensure our local healthcare facilities are equipped with the tools needed to care for our community. Thanks to The WB Family Foundation’s matching challenge, and events throughout the county, this year offers a unique opportunity to double your impact and make an even greater difference for healthcare in Haliburton County.
